Update: Farm Monitor Gadget – Windows 7

The Farm Monitor gadget has been updated to work correctly with Windows 7 Beta.

You can get the updated files here:

I am working to add features to the gadget and would love to hear any suggestions.  I am planning to recode the MFCOM pieces into C# and expose it via  a COM object.  This should give a bit more power for any multi farm processing that needs to be done.

If you have any thoughts/comments please post them here or shoot me an email at "nick  (at) nickholmquist.com"

  1. I can’t get this to work. It just says:
“Unable to create Farm object 429. ActiveX component can’t create object”. It’s on a vista business edition machine that has access to the xenapp server. I put the IP address in the config.

  2. Rick,
Did you install the XenApp SDK on your machine?

  3. I can’t get it work currectly.
After i put the Name of the Server the Farm Name appears, but i doesn’t get any other information. No Server- or Usercount and no load informations.
The SDK is installed in Version 4.5. But at the installation the failure appears “the system does not have a supported c++ compiler”.
But it is an MS C++ 2008 compilerparrt installed.

  4. @Michael
Michael. Is The id you are running the sidebar an administrator of the farm?

  5. @Nick Holmquist
The User with run the Sidebar is in the Group of Domainadmin and there are Farmadmins.

  6. Great gadget!!! Now I can have the status of all of the farms at a glance :) Keep the good stuff coming.

  7. Hi Nick, I have the same problem as Michael described on 22nd Sep. In the top of the Gadget I see the name of our Farm, but i don’t see any count of servers, Sessions or farmload. I get the same message in the end of the installation of the SDK as Michael. The version I installed was the SDK 5.0 on a Windows 7 System. Have you a solution?

  8. Hey, I am running into the same issue as Michael and Fabian. I see the name of the farm but no information. I checked the settings on “An Administrators Viewpoint: Configuring DCOM for MFCOM”. Everything looks correct. Do you need a C++ compiler?

  9. I am working on an updated version to resolve all the issues and add more features. The problem is that it is 4th on the list of items to complete.

  10. Did you have any updates?

  11. Awesome gadget!!!!
